Champions League: Last 16 draw recap, team guide rankings

The best clubs in Europe, and the best players in the world, were placed into Round of 16 pairings on Monday, December 11th . Five clubs from England, three from Spain, two from Italy, and one each from France, Germany, Ukraine, Portugal, Switzerland, and Turkey, have qualified for the knockout round of the tournament.  

Two seeding pots were formed: one consisting of group winners and the other of runners-up. No team can play a club from their qualifying group or their own association. 

  • Pot 1: Manchester United, PSG, AS Roma, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester City, Besiktas, Tottenham
  • Pot 2: Basel, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Juventus, Sevilla, Shakhtar Donetsk, Porto, Real Madrid

Champions League last 16 draw

Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich all avoided scary draws. Chelsea, meanwhile, must find a way past five-time winners Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League, while Tottenham face a tricky tie against last season’s runners-up Juventus. The third most exciting Round of 16 match is between Real Madrid and PSG. Below is the full draw:
